2008 is over. I must admit it was one of the most entrancing years I have ever lived through . I can assuredly say that I have found solid direction in my life, career, and that I conclusively know what I'm working towards in the future. Art has always been a big part of my life, if not my life altogether. I have been lucky enough to have traveled half the world, met incredible people, been exposed to so much cultural diversity...All these things have been such a huge contributing factor in my decision making process over the years. There is that saying that each year starts a new chapter in your life, and i feel like this is the first time I am actually feeling that transition and understanding its message. 2009 is not just a start of a new chapter for me, but a whole new story..and entirely new book...countless blank pages just waiting to be filled, opportunities and chances striving to be grasped. I am very grateful for all the wise teachings of my mentors, their beliefs in me and their support. I am also very thankful to my friends, who have been an ongoing inspiration to me (whether they realized it or not)....:)
so..the new year is on: Let's DrAw!

Great post, inspiring drawings and words. I really like to way this drawing captures the sense of elaborate yet unstable architecture that we have in the South. On our first trip to New Orleans my wife called it "decaying grandeur," a phrase that has really stuck with me. I think you've really nailed it on this one with the angles on the porch and the balcony and the vivid colors. Great stuff.
Thank you for the kind words Alex. However, This architecture rests in the heart of Richmond, VA, not New Orleans. I think one member at Urban Sketchers noted that there is very grand architectural similarities in both cities. I appreciate you stopping by :)

Hey man, I wouldn't mind you linking me at all! I'm honored that you like my work. I've been loving your art for a while now, your sketchbook pages always make me want to break mine out and start drawing everything on my desk!

I feel you man! If you're gonna be around richmond any this break then we should meet up for some sketching action. If not, then I'll see you in class this semester and I will be looking forward to seeing where you've taken your work. awesome drawing by the way.
Huh, its only just occured to me that I haven't added you to the blogroll, and there's something wrong with that. Come to think of it, I could have sword I commented on this post a while back, but i guess not!
addition: That makes me jealous, I need a group of skech-buddies in Baltimore, I spend so much time producing imagery from imagination that some life-drawing would be a welcome change of pace. Now you've got me fired up to go dig up my life-drwaing from school. Seems so long ago.
